Officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said that passport issuance in Kabul that has been stopped now for 17 days is supposed to be resumed soon after technical issues get resolved.
Issuance of Passport stopped in Kabul on 23rd December after a suicide bomber was shot dead at the gate of the central office.
The office was then closed due to security concerns.
Head of the directorate Alamgul Haqqani said that security concerns have ended and the only problems are technical problems that have led to the closure of the center.
Alamgul Haqqani said that technical teams of the interior ministry and ministry of telecommunication are busy working on resolving the problem of users that will soon be completed.
Haqqani called on people not to apply for passports in person and that online applications will be available once technical issues get resolved.
It is worth mentioning that the process is ongoing in most of the provinces.
